I used to think that I was an ace at public speaking. But after I joined toastmasters, I realized I was so wrong! There are so many elements to delivering a speech that I had no clue of. In the two years that I've been a toastmaster, I feel like every meeting and every interaction has taught me something new. Toastmasters gets me excited to continue learning.

Right after my Higher Secondary Education, I wanted to work on my hobbies. This is when I was introduced to MAHE Toastmasters Club. The lively environment followed by the always encouraging Toastmasters fortified my public speaking skills.

I joined Milagres Toastmasters, Mangalore in the year 2018. It's been just two years and I can see tremendous change in me. I've learnt to grab opportunities that comes my way and served as the treasurer and President of my club. This wouldn't have been possible if not for a very encouraging and friendly environment of my club.

I never thought I could speak on stage in front of huge audiences. I still remember, in school I used to fumble for words when asked to speak. I joined toastmasters 10 months back with the aim of improving my communication skills what surprised me the most is that I started doing things that I never knew I could ...I stated writing, speaking in public, took up leadership roles. There are various leadership roles you can venture into. I took up a role as secretary, the basic role is to write down important points of a meeting and report it in the next meeting. The skills I developed doing this role helped me even outside of toastmasters: now I know what to give more importance to, I also developed a hobby of writing and improved my vocabulary. Next I got an opportunity to develop my network. In schools and colleges, we have friends of our age and our mentality. But in toastmasters you get to meet people from different walks of life, and you get to learn so much from them. The best part about toastmasters is that by the time you are developing your network and leadership skill, you would have unknowingly also developed your communication skills. I have been thoroughly enjoying my journey in toastmasters.

I'm a novice in the Toastmasters journey. Being catapulted from a Charter member to the first President of my home club was game the changer for me. Frankly speaking, I had absolutely no clue on what I was getting into. With my 8 months of experience I could say I was able to enhance Public Speaking, Leadership Skills, People Management, Time management skills in one go with Toastmasters. Looking forward to this exciting journey that just began for me.
